Class Details

 

Early Education in Literacy welcomes children ages 4-5 years old. This class is designed to provide students with foundational reading skills needed to transition effectively to kindergarten. This class will focus on the “big four” of preschool literacy: print awareness, oral language development, the alphabetic principle, and phonological awareness. This class will garner these skills through fun, interactive activities. 

 

Foundational Reading Skills welcomes children ages 5-9 years old. Students participating in this class will complete a free 30-minute informal assessment to determine what skills need to be covered. This class will allow for individualized instruction with a class size of only three students per class. Common skills covered include phonemic awareness, letter-sound recognition, phonics, syllable types, sight words, and fluency.

Multiplication Math Facts welcomes children ages 7-10 years old. Students participating in this class will learn
multiplication facts that are often difficult to memorize. This class will utilize fun characters and stories that make
these math facts difficult to forget!

Reading Comprehension welcomes children ages 8-11 years old. Students participating in this class will complete a free 30-minute informal assessment to confirm that they have the foundational skills needed to comprehend text. Reading comprehension is the ability to read text, process it, and understand its meaning. A student needs to be able to decode words and understand the meaning of the words to comprehend the text. This class will focus on vocabulary, critical thinking and questioning, making inferences and predictions, and visualization.
